Project: Do a wood carving that follows the prompt: "It's About Time."

Goals:

  • Finish basic forms

I've completed most of the basic forms. There are some places I want to cut deeper, but most of it is finished. My goals for this week are to refine the face of the fish. I want to keep the horns on the forehead, which will take a lot more carving. I might need to make the entire piece deeper just to accommodate the face. The eyes will also be difficult. I can use some of the round gouges to make them, but they won't be truly "round." I'll have to ask Buddy for advice when he comes next week. I also need to test my idea I have for making the texture of the fish scales. I want to use the round gouges to cut semi-circles into the fish to resemble scales. I want to first test this on the background and not on the fish itself.
