I'm a high school senior in Art 4. I use he/they pronouns.

I'm glad you're here.

Artist Statement:

My hand never rests. My school assignments are always half done and half doodles. I have many artistic interests, and my current work is only a small chapter in what I plan to create as an artist. All I know is I won’t stop drawing– I don’t think I could if I wanted to.

I have dabbled with physical media, but I’ve always felt most comfortable with digital art. I often take reference pictures of myself, which is a project in itself, as I pick my clothing to match the themes of the piece. Then, I replicate the photo by painting on ProCreate with an iPad and Apple Pencil. As I work I saturate colors, but keep the forms and proportions accurate, since that has always come naturally to me. The result is an enhanced version of reality, with a realistic yet glowy, dreamy quality.

My current work is about the relationship between past and present. I use the medium to enhance the content. Most recently, I used the medium of origami to represent two siblings folded together, fragile yet inseparable. The original image of a family vacation was warped into a mutant, conjoined pair of cranes. Previously, I was inspired by interlacing– a uniquely digital technique that increases the perceived framerate of a video. Even and odd rows of pixels are changed separately, causing them to be out-of-sync with each other. This often results in a double image. I use this effect to overlap different scenes from my life, showing how my past still affects me to this day.
