Still Life Oil Painting Progress: Weeks 5-6

Project: A still life oil painting, no prompt.

Goals:

• Finish underpainting

• Start adding color

Things are going very well! I figured out the issue with the cat headband preserved all of the detail. Color matching is difficult, but I'm reassured by the fact that I can go over areas I already painted. Working in thin layers is pretty cool like that.

We had a choice of which solvent to use to thin our paint. I chose Liquin because it wouldn't run. I didn't like it at first, but after getting used to it, I don't mind it. The only problem is that it's slightly yellow, so I have to account for that when I color match.
