Self Portrait Progress: Week 1

Goals:

  • Get a reference photo that has good lighting and composition that also displays an aspect of my personality

  • Start the process of transferring the image to the paper

This week I planned for the self portrait. I took a photo that was okay, but needed cropping. It also wasn't the most creative. I decided I could settle for not being the most creative, but I did want to retake my picture for better lighting. In the second version, I sat in a different location so the lighting would come from the right side more. I also changed the pose a bit. I don't think the lighting changed between the two pictures, which is disappointing, but I think it's still good enough to use.

I also started transferring the image to the big paper. I think I made some mistakes, however, so I'm going to try again on the other side. I wasn't precise enough in gridding the paper. Some sections are slightly bigger than others.
